As prices at the pump continue to soar around $4 a gallon, Queens families and commuters are feeling the crunch in their wallets and household budgets. In order to provide much-needed relief, my Senate colleagues and I are advancing legislation that would eliminate New York State taxes on gasoline from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day.

If this plan is enacted, New Yorkers would save an estimated 32 cents per gallon. If the federal and local governments join the state in the summer gas tax holiday, New Yorkers would save approximately 65 cents per gallon.
